Project Overview
Advanced Engineering Group was appointed to carry out the full replacement of a defective cooling tower at a Kerry Foods facility. The existing unit had developed leaks and required complete decommissioning, removal, and replacement with minimal disruption to site operations.
Working closely with the client, our team managed the shutdown, isolation, lifting, transport, and installation process end-to-end. By using our own lifting coordination and transport, we maintained full control over scheduling, safety, and site logistics.
The project was completed efficiently, with the new cooling tower installed, connected, and prepared for commissioning in line with operational requirements.
Mechanical Services Provided
- Planned decommissioning and isolation of the existing cooling tower
- Drain-down, separation, and removal of the old unit
- Crane lifting and controlled removal using company transport
- Surface preparation and installation of new base gasket
- Crane-assisted installation and secure fixing of the new cooling tower
- Reconnection of stainless-steel pipework using welded spool pieces and flanged joints
- Installation of PVCU pipework with solvent-welded connections
- Insulation and protective lagging to selected pipework
- Mechanical inspection and final handover for commissioning
Project Outcome
The project delivered a fully operational cooling tower system, improving reliability while minimising downtime. Direct control of transport, lifting, and installation ensured a safe, efficient, and well-coordinated replacement process.
