Project Overview

Installation of containment to support 2 × 95 mm² 3-core feed supplies for a new MCC panel, a combination of ladder tray and cable tray systems is typically selected to suit the cable size, weight, and routing requirements. A 400 mm ladder tray would be installed along the main cable route where the larger power cables are carried. Ladder tray is preferred for these heavier cables due to its high load-bearing capacity, good ventilation, and ease of cleating. The tray was securely fixed to supports at appropriate intervals using hanging 10mm rod and uni-strut.

The installation of 450 mm and 225 mm cable tray within the process building provides a structured containment system routing back to the main MCC for distributing power and control circuits to field equipment. The 450 mm cable tray is installed along the primary route to accommodate larger power cables supplying field loads, ensuring sufficient space for cable spacing, heat dissipation, and future capacity. The tray is securely supported on brackets or trapeze hangers at appropriate intervals, maintaining a level and continuous pathway while incorporating bends and fittings to suit the building layout.

The 225 mm cable tray is installed alongside or on a separate tier to carry control, instrumentation, and smaller auxiliary cables. This arrangement ensures effective segregation between power and control circuits, reducing electrical interference and complying with good installation practice. Both tray systems are mechanically fixed, free from sharp edges, and bonded to earth to maintain electrical continuity. The completed containment provides a safe, accessible, and organised route from the process area back to the main MCC, supporting reliable power distribution and control of field equipment.

  • Installation of cabling to main switch room
  • Cable pulling using 1.5-tonne 110V winch system
  • Installation via existing duct infrastructure and newly excavated trench routes
