Project Overview
High-voltage cable jointing and termination works were undertaken on 6.6 kV and 11 kV utility networks as part of infrastructure upgrades in Scotland. The project involved rerouting and installation across two separate networks, requiring precision planning and strict safety control.
Prior to excavation, all underground services were located using CAT scanning equipment to accurately identify existing cables and prevent damage during groundworks. Excavation was carried out using a mini-digger under controlled conditions to expose the relevant HV circuits.
The works included preparation, jointing, and termination of high-voltage cables, installation of protective devices, and integration with the existing utility networks. Comprehensive testing was completed, including continuity, insulation resistance, and polarity checks, ensuring compliance with electrical standards before circuits were returned to service.
Cabling Services Delivered
- Jointing and termination of 6.6 kV and 11 kV HV cables
- Rerouting and installation across two utility networks
- CAT scanning to identify underground services prior to excavation
- Controlled excavation using mini-digger
- Installation of protective devices
- Integration with existing HV infrastructure
- Continuity, insulation resistance, and polarity testing
- Verification of compliance prior to re-energisation
Project Outcome
The HV networks were successfully rerouted and reinstated, with all joints and terminations tested and verified prior to energisation. The works were completed safely and in accordance with utility network standards, ensuring reliable long-term operation of both 6.6 kV and 11 kV systems.
