Project Overview
An emergency callout was received to attend a site in Yeovil where a high-voltage (HV) cable had been damaged during excavation works. The incident required an immediate response to secure the area and restore power supply as quickly and safely as possible.
Upon arrival, the extent of the damage was assessed and isolation procedures were coordinated with the network operator. Switching operations were witnessed, and the damaged cable was safely spiked to confirm full isolation before excavation works commenced.
The affected section of cable was exposed and removed, and a replacement section of 3-core 185mm² HV cable was installed. Two HV joints were completed to reinstate the circuit, followed by full high-voltage testing to verify integrity and compliance prior to re-energisation.
