Project Overview
This project was a Solar farm within Ballymena WWTW. AEG cable contractors installed 2no cables, 4c x 120mm & 70mm cpc to the inverters approx 150mts.
Cables were installed using a 1.5-tonne 110 V winch, then fully glanded, terminated, and tested upon completion. Also 7c x 2.5mm swa & cat 6 swa over 200mts to main sw room for the Pv installation.
The installation was completed using a combination of existing duct infrastructure (30%) and newly excavated open trench (70%). Excavation works were carried out by Advanced Civils.
Cabling Services Delivered
- Installation of 4-core 120mm² and 70mm² power cables to inverter units
- Installation of 7-core 2.5mm² SWA and CAT6 SWA cabling to main switch room
- Cable pulling using 1.5-tonne 110V winch system
- Installation via existing duct infrastructure and newly excavated trench routes
- Glanding and termination of all installed cables
- Electrical testing and verification
- Coordination with Advanced Civils for trench excavation works
Project Outcome
The solar farm cabling installation was successfully completed, providing reliable power and communication links between inverter systems and the main switch room. The works were delivered safely and efficiently within a live utility environment, supporting renewable energy integration at the Ballymena treatment facility.
